MLFHS have reproduced, the two volumes Registers of Saddleworth Chapelry 1633-1751 [551 pages] and 1751-1800 [675 pages] in their original format. They were originally edited in the 1890s by John Radcliffe. The books are indexed, by name and location, and contain full transcriptions of each register entry, in the original spelling, as well as Radcliffe's notes about many people mentioned. Also included in the text are parish histories, parish chest records, wills, family histories and a number of illustrations. Saddleworth Banns, which point to intended marriages at other churches, also appear. The transcripts also include early records for a number of small chapels of ease:
St. Anne, Lydgate, c. 1788-1802, b. 1788-1791;
Dobcross, c. 1787-1790, b. 1787-1790;
Friarmere Chapel, c. 1767-1771, b. 1767-1771
The data is presented as an Adobe Acrobat file. A self-extracting copy of Acrobat Reader 8 is included on the CD and can be installed, if required, once the program has been started.
