1851 Census Returns for Prestwich, Blackley and Harpurhey

A considerable part of the 1851 census returns for Manchester, Salford and surrounding areas were damaged by water while in storage and it has not been possible to satisfactorily film or digitally scan the returns. The original books are also too fragile to permit public access.

This downloadable file contains transcripts for the townships of Prestwich, Blackley and Harpurhey (TNA reference: HO/107/2232). It has proved possible to recover details for approximately 90% of the8,987 people recorded within the townships.

In addition to the transcripts, the file also contains complete surname/forename and street indexes.
