St Mary Mulberry Street (1850-1922
Manchester’s second Catholic chapel, opened 1794 in the Deansgate district. The church collapsed in 1835 and was initially repaired but was then fully demolished in 1847 with the present church by Weightman and Hadfield being opened in 1848. The church has faced closure on several occasions but has always survived and is now nicknamed The Hidden Gem. Registers for Baptisms 1794-1850, Marriages 1831-1836 and Burials 1816-1825 & 1832-1837 have also been published on CD by the Catholic FHS.
